You may think how is that possible. Water is life. We need water to have a bath, we sweat, we cry, water is everywhere. How can a person survive if they are allergic to water?

In a shocking medical condition, a 15-year-old girl is so allergic to water that she cannot even cry or shower regularly as she gets painful rashes when her skin comes into contact with the water. Abigail Beck, is from Arizona , USA. 3 years back she suddenly started getting an allergy and rashes on her body. Doctors were not able to find the reason for this.  She initially thought something was wrong with the water in her house or she may have been having a reaction to skin lotions.  However, symptoms got worse over time.  Finally last month, doctors found that she was allergic to water!

This  extremely rare condition affects one in 20 Crore people. Fewer than 100 cases of allergy to water have been recorded around the world so far, and It typically occurs when a child hits puberty.

Abigail said that when it rains or when she takes a shower, it feels like someone has poured "acid" on her skin, her own tears burn like acid on her face, also resulting in her skin to turn red. She said that her allergy is so bad that even drinking water makes her vomit and added that she has not had a glass of water for more than a year and she only drinks energy drinks or pomegranate juice. However, she can drink a small amount of water at a time and has to take steroid medicines to manage the reactions. Abigail also said that she had to educate doctors about her condition as not many of them know about it.
