Ghaziabad: 4-year-old Lured with Chocolate, Raped by Neighbour
In Ghaziabad, a 24-year-old factory labourer raped a 4-year-old girl on the promise of a chocolate.
In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a 24-year old man Gaurav Prajapati, who was a factory labourer, lured her 4-year old neighbour away from her home with the promise of a chocolate.
Around 6 pm, he took her to a nearby area called Nandgram, which was approx 500 metres from her home.
There, he raped her and murdered her by hitting her head with a brick.
Around 7 pm, when the girl’s father came back from work, he started looking for her and got to know that Gaurav took the girl somewhere a while back.
Around 8.45 PM, he sees Gaurav in a nearby farm and asks him about his daughter, but Gaurav asks him to search ahead.
Almost 20 metres from there, he finds his daughter’s body covered in blood with no clothes on her lower body, and she was bleeding from her private parts, as well as her ear and head, in all, she had 11 injuries, including bite marks and injuries to the private parts; signs of strangulation and smothering; three deep head wounds, likely from the brick.
People called the police, but Gaurav had already escaped by then.
According to police, the girl's mother had not lived with the family since 2022, when she was six months old. The father is a painter and when he went out to work, his eldest son (13) often looked after his younger brother (11) and the girl.
Following the incident, hundreds of locals and family members protested at Nandgram police station.
A senior officer said 5 police teams were formed immediately, and Gaurav was arrested near his house
within hours. During interrogation, Gaurav revealed that he killed the girl so that no one would know about the rape. He wiped his blood-stained hands with a handkerchief and threw it in a bush near the scene. So, a police team took him to the crime scene for the recovery of evidence.
The ACP then said that Gaurav fired at the police with an illegal weapon he had previously hidden in that spot, and attempted to kill them.
So, the police, in self-defence, shot Gaurav in both legs.
An illegal weapon and cartridges were taken from him and then he was sent to the district hospital in Ghaziabad for treatment.
Investigation is ongoing.
