Ghanshyam Nayak: Nattu Kaka of TMKOC Passes Away
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Nattu Kaka aka actor Ghanshyam Nayak passed away following a long battle with cancer.
77 year old Actor Ghanshyam Nayak who played the role of Nattu Kaka in the popular TV series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah passed away at the age of 77 on October 3 in Mumbai's Suchak Hospital at around 5:30 pm. He was a beloved character on the famous TV serial Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Nayak was an expert comedian and played the role of Nattu Kaka, who handles the accounts section of an electronics store run by Jethalal Gada. Sadly the reason for his death was cancer. Let me tell you about it. Last year in September, the actor had developed 8 knots on his neck, for which he underwent successful surgery. Doctors removed all the knots.
In April year, during a PET scan, doctors again found some cancerous growth in his neck. He then had to go for chemotherapy. Nayak’s son Vikas had said that his father was doing well, he did not have any pain and needed to just visit the hospital for a session once a month. However, the cancer had spread all over and he passed away. Nayak was a multi-talented man. He started as a child artiste in 1960. He became famous and acted in many Gujarati & Hindi plays. He has been part of over 350 Gujarati films and more than a 100 Gujarati plays. His most favourite serial was Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai and Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka. He was also a singer. His death came as a huge shock to people as well as the actors.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah creator Asit Kumarr Modi said, “Ghanashyam Nayak and I go a long way back and our families also were related. His passing away is a loss personally to me as well as for the show. Through the years, he kept motivating and encouraging me. His absence will be felt by everyone and is a big loss for the entire team. We pay homage to a great actor and a great human being and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this painful time.”
