Gambhir Shows Middle Finger To Kohli’s Fans?

Gautam Gambhir's ongoing feud with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli includes a recent controversy where he showed the middle finger to fans during the Asia Cup.

Gautam Gambhir has a sour history with both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, and had a war of words with the Kohli in IPL 2023. Over the last decade, the feud between the two has intensified. Gambhir has been accused of being “jealous” of his Kohli’s rise. India had to score 275 to win the World Cup 2011 final. At 31 runs India had lost 2 wickets. It was Gambhir, who rescued India with fine 97 runs but did not win the Player of the Match. However, Dhoni, who walked out at No.5  got the player of the match for his 91 not out. He is also praised for the six that helped India win the cup. Gambhir alleges that all the credit for the win has gone to captain Dhoni, while the remaining players continue to jostle for the spotlight. Now again Gambhir, one of the commentators at the Asia Cup, was seen heading back from the field. He crossed the boundary and was passing the spectators, when he was attacked with chants of “Dhoni, Dhoni” and “Kohli, Kohli”, with the exact shouts being drowned down. Gambhir looked back at the bunch of supporters and flipped the finger before walking away nonchalantly. The fans were convinced that the chants of Dhoni and Kohli left Gambhir fuming. But soon, Gambhir came up with a post on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) to issue a clarification. He wrote, “Not everything is as it seems. Any Indian would react how I did to the kind of slogans used against our nation. I love our players & I love my country,” Gambhir also spoke to the media, “What is shown on social media has no truth in it because people show whatever they want to show. The truth about the video that went viral is that if you raise anti-India slogans and speak about Kashmir then the person before you will obviously react and not smile and leave. There were 2-3 Pakistanis there who were speaking anti-India things and things on Kashmir. So, it was my natural reaction. I can’t hear anything against my country. So, that was my reaction,” Prior to this, former India cricketers Mohammed Kaif and Gautam Gambhir were involved in a heated debate during the India-Pak match in Asia Cup over who should bat at No 5 for India between KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. Now this incident of showing the middle finger to fans. Gautam Gambhir keeps falling into controversies every now and then.
