France President Emmanuel Macron Slapped by Man

French President Emmanuel Macron has been slapped in the face on an official visit to the south-east of France.

Recently France allowed bars and restaurants to reopen for customers after 7 months of closure. This is why on 8th June French President Emmanuel Macron went on a trip to Tain-l'Hermitage in southeastern France to meet restaurateurs and students in the area. He spoke about how life is now returning to normal after the COVID-19 pandemic. A viral video has been widely circulating on social media, in which Macron—wearing a white shirt and black trousers—can be  seen approaching a crowd standing behind a barricade. Macron approaches a man in a green T-shirt and shakes his hand. Someone shouts "Down with Macron-ism" in the background after this, the man in the green Tshirt slaps Macron.

Security personnel quickly intervene and distance Macron from the assailant.  Afterwards the President again came to interact with the crowd for some time. According to French media, two people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Politicians have swiftly denounced the incident and supported the President. Macron said that, "I will continue what I am doing and nothing will ever stop me.”
