Fake Doctor Marries 15 Women in 9 Years
Mysuru police arrested a man for allegedly cheating multiple women by posing as a doctor or an engineer and getting married to them.
Mysuru police arrested a man on Sunday 9 July 2023 for allegedly cheating multiple women by posing as a doctor or an engineer and getting married to them. The man reportedly duped at least 15 women and got married to them, before he was caught. He has 4 children from these wives.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Mahesh Nayak had only studied till Class 5. According to the report, Since 2014 Mahesh Nayak, a resident of Bengaluru created matrimonial profiles, claiming to be a doctor, engineer, and even a civil contractor. He is 35 years old. He also established a fake clinic in Tumakuru and hired a nurse to picture himself as a practising doctor. He was caught when a software engineer who he married filed a complaint against him. She said that he harassed her for money to establish a clinic. She further alleged that he had fled with her jewellery after she denied giving him money. Many of his victims reached out to police and told how he duped them in the pretext of being a doctor and engineer.
An attempt to murder case was filed on Mahesh Nayak by his father earlier. Police are interrogating the accused to find more details of the victims that fell in his prey. Several women rejected Mahesh's marriage proposal when they heard him speak English. His poor language skills acted as a red flag to many of his potential victims, added police. Mahesh rarely met his wives. Most of the women he had married were well-read and professionals who did not depend on him for their financial needs. They never filed a complaint even after they realized that they had been conned fearing embarrassment and stigma, added police.
