Ex-Army Man Kills Wife, Chops Body, Boils Parts in Pressure Cooker

In a shocking incident, a retired army official killed his wife, chopped up her body, boiled the parts in a pressure cooker and dumped them in a lake in Hyderabad.

35-year-old P Venkata Madhavi lived with her 45-year-old retired army-man husband, Gurumurthy in New Venkateshwara Nagar Colony, Meerpet, Hyderabad. The couple had been married for 13 years and had 2 children.

Madhavi was a homemaker while Gurumuthy worked as an outsourced security guard at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) facility in Kanchan Bagh.

On the morning of 16th January 2025, the couple had an argument because Madhavi wanted to visit her native place Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh for the then ongoing Sankranti festival, but Gurumurthy denied.

Madhavi went missing after the argument.

Gurumurthy searched for Madhavi when she didn’t return home till late evening. His in-laws i.e. Madhavi’s parents also joined in the search.

On 18th January 2025, Gurumurthy and his in-laws filed a missing complaint at the police station. He told the police that Madhavi left the house in anger after their alleged argument over visiting Nandyal for Sankranti and claimed that she hadn't returned since.

The police started searching for Madhavi.

As the search for Madhavi intensified, the police grew suspicious of the husband and called him for interrogation.

On 22nd January 2025, 6 days after Madhavi went missing, Gurumurthy confessed to killing Madhavi in rage and misleading the police with the “missing story”.

After killing her, he chopped up her body in the bathroom, boiled the parts in a pressure cooker on the stove in their kitchen, then separated the bones from the flesh, used the pestle and mortar to ground the flesh and bones and boiled them again.

After cooking the flesh & bones for 3 days, he backed them in various bags and dumped the pieces in a lake at Jillelaguda of Meerpet.

He also told the police that he & Madhavi had been having frequent heated arguments for several days and added that their 2 children were at his sister’s place.

Area’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ch Praveen Kumar, said that the Hyderabad Police is verifying Gurumurthy’s confession & claims and told the media that they haven’t found any body parts yet.

Clues team and dog squad have been deployed to search for the Madhavi’s body parts.

The investigation is on-going.
