Maurizio Cattelan, an Italian artist bought the banana from a market in Miami. He then taped it to the wall and called it art. 


This was then put up for sale.This display has sold two copies. It was bought by two people from France. Each banana taped to the wall was sold for $150,000 which is around Rs 1,06,89,270.00. Cattelan the position of the banana is the special point of the art piece. He is not worried about people stealing or eating the banana. If someone steals or eats the banana he can simply replace it. Cattelan is famous for making strange art like this. Earlier he has made a gold toilet which was sold for at $1.25 million.
