Director Nishikant Kamat & Musician Pandit Jasraj Pass Away
India is mourning the tragic demise of two talented artists Pandit Jasraj and Director Nishikant Kamat. Watch our latest video for all the details.
Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat who directed 2015 thriller film Drishyam passed away on Monday 17 th August at 4.24 pm. He was 50. Kamat was admitted at Hyderabad’s AIG Hospitals in critical condition. He was suffering from Liver Cirrhosis for two years. Kamat was admitted to the hospital on 31 st July with fever and excessive fatigue. The hospital said, “ Initially Mr Kamat showed improvement, but his condition soon deteriorated. He was immediately shifted to the ICU and his general condition gradually declined. Eventually he had multiple organ failure and passed away.”
Many celebrities including Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh mourned the demise of the filmmaker on Twitter. Kamat made his directorial debut with Marathi film Dombivali Fast in 2005. His Bollywood debut was Mumbai Meri Jaan. He had directed many Marathi and Hindi films. Some of his best known films are Force, Madaari, Rocky Handsome, Drishyam and Lai Bhaari.
Another sad news that India received was about the death of legendary musician and Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj. Pandit Jasraj passed away at the age of 90 in New Jersey, United States. Pandit Jasraj was honoured with Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards during his lifetime.The news of his demise was announced by his daughter Durga Jasraj. President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi expressed their condolences. Last year the International Astronomical Union had named a minor planet located between Mars and Jupiter, after Pandit Jasraj.
