Delhi’s 2020 Republic Day Parade

Yesterday on Republic Day a grand parade was held at Rajpath in Delhi. Watch our video for all the highlights from this year's colorful parade.

Yesterday 26th January 2020 was India’s 71st Republic Day. Like every year, even yesterday a parade was held in Rajpath, Delhi. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was the chief guest and there were 22 tableaux from 16 from states and Union Territories, rolled down Rajpath.Here are a few highlights from this year's colorful parade. Twenty-two tableaux - 16 from states and union territories and the rest from various ministries and departments - took part in the Republic Day parade.States, such as Bengal and Kerala, were not included as their tableau ideas were rejected by the government. 

The Indian Military displayed their strength at the parade. The Indian Army, Navy & Air Force displayed their various weapons. The Bhishma Tank, the Rafale Fighter Jet, Chinook and Apache helicopters and the  Kalvari Submarine. 

For the first time the Anti-Satellite Missile and the 'Dhanush' gun system were on display.The Dhanush gun has automatic alignment and positioning capabilities and has a maximum range of 36.5 km. Captain Tania Sher Gill, a woman officer led an all-male contingent. She has become the first woman Parade officer to lead all-men contingents during the Army Day function.

A contingent of CRPF women bikers - including an act by 21 of them on five motorcycles - made history performing daredevil stunts.Prime Minister Narendra Modi would always pay tribute to dead Indian soldiers at the Amar Jawan Jyoti under India Gate.However this year, he paid tribute to the dead soldiers at the National War Memorial.
