India Out of Asia Cup After Pakistan Defeats Afghanistan
After India’s extremely bad performance in the Asia cup, India is now out of the Asia Cup championship.
After India’s extremely bad performance in Asia cup against its two neighbours, Pakistan & Sri Lanka, India is now out of the Asia Cup championship. After winning their group matches against Pakistan and Hong Kong, India crashed into a 5-wicket defeat against Pakistan in their first Super 4 match. It was followed by another final over defeat, this time by Sri Lanka. However, after India lost its match against Sri Lanka, it was said that India might still qualify to play finals if Afghanistan defeats Pakistan in the match played between them on 7th September. Moreover, Afghanistan, which lost its first game of the Super Four phase against Sri Lanka, also needed a win to keep their chances of making it to the Asia Cup finals. They were pretty close to a win with an impressive bowling performance, but Naseem Shah snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
India and Afghanistan are out of the tournament after Pakistan's win. However, the match between the two neighbours and Afghanistan was not just played on the ground, but also amongst the fans of both the teams who were sitting in the crowd. During the match between Pakistan and Afghanistan on 7th September 2022 saw ugly scenes as players confronted each other and a mid-pitch fight almost broke out. The incident took place when Afghan fast bowler Fareed Ahmed & Pakistan Batsman Asif Ali had a heated confrontation, both the players almost came close to each other when Asif Ali was about to hit Fareed with the bat in the heat of the moment. However, soon, the umpires and the Afghan player came in to calm things down.
Not just that, after Pakistan defeated Afghanistan in the must win game, a video has surfaced from the stadium where spectators from both the countries were seen damaging the stadium property and throwing things against each other. The security could not control things as it went out of hand. It is not known if any fan has been injured in the horrifying incident. The videos of the incident have surfaced on social media and have gone viral since then.
One such shameful incident was witnessed by the Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh who was verbally abused by a fan for dropping an easy catch in the final overs of the match, which India lost against Pakistan. After the fan verbally abused Arshdeep, an Indian sports journalist Vimal Kumar confronted him and opposed his shameful behaviour, which was later appreciated by cricket fans on social media.
