Deer Falls Through Roof in Mumbai

Amidst the lockdown, Mumbai has witnessed the emergence of rare wild animals. Watch our latest video to learn about a spotted Deer that crashed through the roof of a slum.

During the ongoing lockdown, Mumbaikars have seen a lot of wildlife like peacocks, kingfishers, dolphins, deer, foxes, large snakes, etc as the roads are free of traffic and crowds. But a very strange and surprising incident happened on the early morning of Sunday in the house of Savita Singh. She stays in the slums at Hanuman Tekdi near IIT – Bombay campus. A large spotted deer was being chased by a leopard on the hill. To protect itself from the leopard, the deer was running and in the dark the deer slipped from the hill. The deer slipped and fell on a slum roof, the roof broke and the deer fell with a loud thud (sound) into the small tiny house.

The sleepy family members in the house were stunned to see what fell through the roof. Luckily the deer was not injured. Even the people sleeping in the slum were not hurt. The deer fell about 2 feet away from them. There was no damage to the fan, TV, gas, etc. The deer was shocked but it remained calm, did not move, and was watching the surroundings. The family could not believe what they saw. Then some local people made an urgent call to the forest department.

There is a lockdown in Mumbai, still, Mumbai’s Forest Department got a 7 member team ready to save the deer. Hundreds of excited people living in the slum had crowded to see the deer. The rescue team reached the house, took the deer in the wildlife ambulance.
