Dawood Ibrahim was born in Dongri, Mumbai. It is believed that he currently resides in Karachi. Dawood is accused of 1993 Bombay blasts and has several Interpol notices against him. Dawood Ibrahim is one of India's most wanted terrorists. Dawood was designated as a global terrorist in 2003 by India and the United States. He has a reward of US $25 million on his head for his role in the 1993 Bombay bombings. America's FBI has named Dawood Ibrahim as the World's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives. On 5th June 2020 according to media reports, it was informed by the top government sources in Pakistan that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his wife have tested positive for coronavirus and that his personal staff and guards have been quarantined. Reports suggest Dawood and his wife are currently undergoing treatment in Karachi Military Hospital.
However, in less than 24 hours after the reports emerged, Dawood’s brother Anees Ibrahim, who controls his underworld operations and finance, denied such reports. News agency IANS quoted that Anees said, "Bhai (Dawood) is fine and Shakeel is also fine. No one has tested positive for coronavirus. No one from our family is admitted to the hospital." But he accepted that they were running the business in the UAE and Pakistan. Later during the day, reports emerged that Dawood Ibrahim had died from coronavirus and the news went viral on social media. The news drew funny reactions as well from social media users and users drew comparisons between Dawood, WWE superstar ‘The Undertaker’, and former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi.
The news of Dawood dying has made headlines many times earlier and the latest news didn't surprise many as the gangster's close aides have always denied the news. The only person on the earth to make a comeback after dying is the WWE legend ‘The Undertaker’. He too has died a few times on the show and then come back at another event. Hence, social media users drew a connection between them. Comparisons with Afridi, was because the Pakistan cricketer had a habit of returning after quitting the game. Afridi retired from international cricket more than three times.
