Congress President Kharge Tells People to Come for His Funeral

Kharge appealed to Kalaburagi's residents to attend his funeral even if they didn't support his son-in-law in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, urging an emotional connection at a rally.

The Congress has fielded Congress President - Mallikarjun Kharge's son-in-law Radhakrishna Doddamani from Kharge’s hometown Kalaburagi, Karnataka against BJP's sitting MP Umesh Jadhav.

Seeking to strike an emotional chord, Kharge appealed to Kalaburagi citizens to at least attend his funeral if they thought he worked for them even if they did not wish to vote for his son-in-law in the Lok Sabha elections at a rally in Afzalpur on 24th April 2024.

Kharge smartly further told the people that if they did not vote for Congress, he would think that he did not have "any place" in Kalaburagi anymore and that he could not win the hearts of his own people.

Kharge had won the Lok Sabha elections in Kalaburagi in 2009 and 2014 but lost in 2019.

He also took a stride at the opposition and said that he was born to defeat the anti-democratic ideologies of BJP and RSS and announced that he would never surrender before them.

The 81-year-old Kharge assured his hometown that he would not retire from politics anytime soon. He said, “I am born for politics. Whether or not I will contest the election, I will strive till my last breath to save the Constitution and democracy of this country. I will not retire from politics”.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was also present on the stage. Kharge advised him to follow his principles too in front of everyone.
