Comedian Jagdeep Passes Away at 81

Legendary comedian Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, better known by his screen name Jagdeep, passed away in Mumbai.

Legendary comedian Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, better known by his screen name Jagdeep, passed away yesterday on 8th July 2020 in Mumbai. He was 81 years old. Producer Mehmood Ali, a close family friend of his said, “He passed away at 8.30 pm at his residence in Bandra. He was not keeping well due to age related issues,"The last rites of the actor will be performed today at Mustafa Bazaar in Mazgaon, Mumbai. Jagdeep started his film journey as a child artist in director BR Chopra's 1951 film Afsana. He is best known for his role as Soorma Bhopali in "Sholay". He also played memorable roles in "Purana Mandir" and in "Andaz Apna Apna" as Salman Khan''s father. He has appeared in more than 400 films. He is survived by two sons - Javed and Naved.
