CMs Request Modi to Extend Lockdown

PM Modi chaired a video conference with CMs of all states and Union Territories over the coronavirus outbreak.  PM Modi spoke to all the CMs wearing a white scarf as a mask.He said "I am available 24x7. Any chief minister can speak to me and give suggestions (on COVID-19) anytime. We should stand together shoulder-to-shoulder,"PM Modi took feedback from the chief ministers on whether the three-week lockdown to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus should end on Tuesday.  10 chief ministers of states including Punjab, Delhi, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, have asked for the lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “The decision to continue the lockdown should be taken on a national level,” "If the states decide the length of the lockdown on their own, then the fight against the coronavirus won't be effective. There will be risk of the virus spreading” Kejriwal said the lockdown must be pushed till 30th April. 

Many CMs agreed to this. West Bengal, Odisha and Punjab have already announced an extension of the lockdown.

Decision about the lockdown will be made soon. However this time there will be many changes in the lockdown rules. The Central Government is thinking to extend the lockdown for 2 more weeks. Travelling to different states will not be allowed. Only essential services will be allowed.Schools, colleges and religious institutions are likely to stay closed.

Maharashtra Chief Minister announced that the lockdown in Maharashtra will extend  till at least 30th April. He said that COVID-19 can be completely removed only if people stay at home and follow rules. Announcements regarding various services such as schools, colleges, offices, etc. will be made after 14th April. But the lockdown extension is confirmed in Maharashtra.
