Chris Gayle May Not Retire So Soon

West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle had announced that he would be retiring after World CUp. However he has shocked fans all over the world that it might not be the end of his career.

In February of this year, Chris Gayle who is 39 years old from West Indies announced his retirement from cricket after the World Cup. He said that he wanted the youth of the country to have some fun and take the lead. At a press conference before their game against India, he made the announcement that he was not done with cricket just yet. When asked what his plans were for after the World Cup, he said, “Maybe a Test Match against India and definitely the ODIs in the series being played in August but not the T20s.”

Gayle who has not played a Test match since September 2014 shocked the reporters with his announcement. He has scored 10,345 ODI runs and is second only to one of the greatest batsmen to play Brian Lara. Gayle who also goes by the name “Universe Boss” a nickname he gave himself and has it written on his bat also. He also holds the honour of being one of only 6 players to ever score a double century in an ODI.

West Indies Captain Jason Holder said he did not know Chris Gayle’s plans but he was glad he would play with them against India in the series in August.
