Chinese Mobile Phones Flourish in Indian Markets

Chinese companies lead the cell phone phone market in India.

Indian consumers used to prefer Indian mobile phone brands such as Micromax, Lava, Karbonn and Intex. In 2014, Indian mobile companies commanded 50% of the smartphone market. In 2018, they commanded less than 9% of the total market share.  These brands are struggling in the market because they can not compete with the China made mobile phones.

Towards the end of 2018, Chinese brands commanded 60% of the smartphone market. The Indian consumers prefer mobiles with good battery life. Indian Brand like Micromax made use of that. However, people prefer buying the Chinese brands because of the superior quality.

Companies like Xiaomi came up with creative marketing ideas, which attracted customers. The Chinese have perfected their knowledge regarding the Indian consumers needs. They provide exactly what an Indian consumer looks for in the phone, which is why they are the top selling phones in the country.
