With another day of rising cases of the corona virus in the country, to a good news by the Drug Controller General of India, Children aged between 6-12 Years can now also be vaccinated with Covaxin-

Covid 19 cases in India are increasing once again, On Tuesday India reported 2,483 new cases of covid-19. Vaccines are playing a very important role to minimize the impact of Covid-19. 86% of India’s adult population has been fully vaccinated as per Union health Minister Mansukh Mandavia. When the vaccination drive had started, parents were very worried about the safety of Covid-19 vaccines for their children. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) had approved Bharat Biotech's Covaxin &  Zydus Cadila's ZyCoV-D vaccine for use on children above 12 years in December 2021. The DCGI had also approved Biological E's Covid-19 vaccine Corbevax for children above 12 years age group. Now the DCGI has brought up very good news for the people of India.

The Drug Controller General of India on Tuesday 26th April approved the use of Bharat Biotech's Covaxin vaccine for children who are aged between 6 to 12 years and Biological E's Covid-19 vaccine Corbevax can be given to children between the ages of 5-12 years. Before giving the approval, the DCGI had asked Bharat Biotech to submit trial data to check whether the vaccine would cause any serious health problems to the children. After it was found that it is safe, the approval was given. Now that the vaccines will be given to children between 6-12, the DCGI has told the company to collect data on children post vaccination and share with the DCGI so that they can keep a check on all the side effects and ensure children are safe. The permission granted to Covaxin for use on children comes in as a very good big news, as covid-19 cases are again increasing around the country and experts are fearing this to be the fourth wave of this deadly pandemic.

Vaccines for children now will ot only ensure their safety but will also help the country to return back to normal life. By the way are you planning to get your children vaccinated against Covid-19?
