Celebrities React to Richa Chadha’s Anti National Tweet

After actor Richa Chadha’s controversial post on the Indian army & Akshay Kumar’s reaction to it, several other celebrities reacted to the whole story.

You would have seen many news articles about actress Richa Chadha’s controversial post on the Indian army & Akshay Kumar and many celebrities’ reaction to it. All this started when the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s recently in a statement hinted at getting back parts of Kashmir illegally occupied by Pakistan. After which, Indian Army’s Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi tweeted his statement in which he mentioned the Indian Army is waiting for orders from the government in reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok).

However, actor Richa Chadha’s tweet was in response to Lt General Upendra Dwivedi’s tweet, which is now in the middle of a huge controversy. She wrote, “Galwan says Hi.”  She was referring to the Galwan Valley clash of 2020 at the Indo-China border in which 20 Indian Army soldiers lost their lives while China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had lost around 35-40 troops. Although, soon after her tweet started getting slammed by the internet users, Richa Chadha deleted her tweet & apologised for her mistake. In her apology, Chadha said that her grandfather was also part of the Army and that she did not intentionally wish to offend or hurt anyone. She said her grandfather was a Lieutenant Colonel who took a bullet in the leg during the Indo-China war in the 1960s. She mentioned that she had no idea that her tweet would cause a huge controversy.

After this controversy sparked against Richa’s tweet, the hashtag “Boycott Fukrey 3" has started trending. Reacting to Richa Chadha’s tweet, Akshay Kumar condemned the actress and wrote that nothing should ever make us ungrateful towards our armed forces. It hurts to see this. Paresh Rawal took to his Twitter handle to share his opinion. He wrote, ‘Indian armed forces. Aap hain to hum hai (we live because you are there)." Anupam Kher had also criticised the actress and posted, "Trying to become popular among some people by speaking poorly about your country is the work of cowards and small people. And putting the honour of the army at stake…. What can be more shameful than this?" Kay Kay Menon, while reacting to Richa’s statement, wrote, ‘Our brave men and women in uniform, put their life on the line to keep every citizen of our Nation safe & secure! Least we can do is to behold love, respect & gratitude, in our hearts, towards such valour! #JaiHind! Vande Mataram.’ Vivek Agnihotri also slammed Richa Chadha on her Galwan taunt.

Although Richa Chadha has been receiving backlash from all sides, actor Prakash Raj and actress Swara Bhasker came out in her support. He also slammed Akshay Kumar’s tweet against the actress. He tweeted, "Didn’t expect this from you @akshaykumar… having said that @RichaChadha is more relevant to our country than you sir..." In another post, he added, "Yes we stand with you @RichaChadha... we understand what you meant." Do you think it was the right thing to make such disrespectful statements on the ones who sacrifice their lives on the borders just so that we can sleep in peace?
