Businessman Raj Kundra Arrested for Making Sex Films

Actor Shilpa Shetty's husband, businessman Raj Kundra has been arrested by the Mumbai police over a case involving pornographic films.

Actor Shilpa Shetty married Raj Kundra in 2009 and they welcomed their first child, son Viaan Raj Kundra, in 2012. The couple welcomed their second child - a daughter named [Box 04 Samisha via surrogacy, last year. Raj Kundra  is the owner of an app called JL Stream and also a part owner of Indian Premier League cricket team Rajasthan Royals. In 2013, he was questioned by the Delhi Police in connection with the betting and spot-fixing cricket scandal. In February 2021, a woman had registered a complaint against Raj Kundra at the Mumbai Crime Branch. In her complaint she said that Kundra hired young men and women on the pretext of working in movies & web series but made them act in a pornographic film instead. She said these films were then published on some paid mobile apps. In connection to the case, the police had arrested 9 people last week for allegedly "forcing" actors to shoot nude scenes for pornographic films.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale said that they have sufficient evidence that Actor Shilpa Shetty's husband, businessman Raj Kundra, has been found to be involved in making pornographic films. This is why he was arrested on 19 July. However further investigations are in progress. Raj Kundra spent the night in the custody of the Crime Branch, Mumbai. He was taken for medical examination at JJ Hospital early on 20 July morning. Denying any wrongdoing, Raj Kundra had applied for bail in the case. Model-actress Poonam Pandey has also filed a case against Raj Kundra and his associates in Bombay High Court. She said that Kundra and his associates have been illegally using her content even though the contract between them was terminated.
