In Gujarat -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state -- making, buying, selling or transporting alcohol is illegal, punishable by hefty fines and even prison sentences. Recently 3 farmers were arrested for making and selling hooch in Chiloda which is in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. They were brothers and their names were Dinesh Thakor, Ambaram Thakor and Ravi Thakor. However, the story of their arrest is very strange. Let me tell you about it. The brothers saw that their buffaloes were acting strangely and their mouths had started frothing. Next day, the buffaloes began jumping uncontrollably even as they continued to froth from the mouth.

The man then called a local veterinarian to inspect the animals.

When the doctor arrived, he inspected the water trough from which the animals would drink water. The doctor observed a strange smell and found the water to be coloured. The brothers told the doctor that branches from a tree had fallen in the trough which is why it changed its colour. The doctor prescribed medicines and left but he was very suspicious. The vet then informed the local police about the incident. When they raided the place on 5th July,  it turned out, the men had hidden bottles of hooch in the trough and some of them had broken, contaminating the water. Police recovered 100 bottles of alcohol worth ? 32,000 and arrested the 3 brothers. The buffaloes have recovered and are now stable.
