Brazil Bans iPhone 14 and Fines Them Rs 22.72 Crore

Brazil says it is banning the sale of iPhones which do not include a power adapter.

iPhone just launched the iPhone 14. The cheapest model starts from around Rs 70,000 and the top model costs almost Rs 1,40,000! What an expensive mobile! But such an expensive phone does not have a power adapter and neither does it have earphones! People have to buy the phone separately and then the adapter and earphones separately! Wow! Apple stopped including power adapters and headphones in iPhone boxes with the launch of iPhone 12 in 2020. It said the move would help save the environment by making packaging smaller. The company said the smaller packaging means less cardboard used, which means less paper would be used and for that less trees will be cut. Thus, protecting the environment. However, surprisingly, Brazil has now banned the sale of iPhones because they are not selling the adapter with the phone. Brazil's Ministry of Justice and Public Security said it has fined Apple £2.04m. Rs 21.72 crore. Brazilian consumer agency Senacon said Apple's decision not to include power adapters with new iPhones discriminates against consumers by selling an "incomplete product". They said if Apple really wants to save the environment it can think of different charging techniques. Why is it asking people to buy a charger separately? Apple will appeal against the ban. Currently in India there is no such ban. If you have to buy a charger separately.
