Book air tickets on IRCTC and get free travel insurance of upto Rs 50 lakh.
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation [IRCTC], has partnered with Bharti AXA General insurance company to provide free travel insurance to customers who book flight tickets on their website, that is IRCTC Air. This will be applicable for domestic as well as international flights. Insurance will cover both one way and round trip flights.
From February, you can book air tickets on IRCTC and get travel insurance of upto Rs 50 lakhs for free. M P Mall, the Chairman and Managing Director [MD] of IRCTC said that, all travel portals charge a certain amount for air travel insurance. He said that, it does not matter what class of tickets are booked. Whether economy or business class, travel insurance will be free.
The travel insurance will provide financial protection against accidental death and total permanent disability. Other travel portals, charge processing fee of upto Rs 200 per ticket. IRCTC charges on Rs 50. IRCTC does not charge cancellation fees.
IRCTC said that, this service is to make travel easy for the common man.
