Bhagwant Mann assumes office as Punjab Chief Minister.

The Aam Aadmi Party had won 92 seats in the 117-member Punjab Assembly. On 16th March 2022, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Singh Mann took oath and started working as the Chief Minister of Punjab. He was earlier a standup comedian and now he has become the CM of Punjab. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of Bhagat Singh. Mr Mann, in a video message, released earlier had invited the people of the state for his oath-taking ceremony, urging men to wear 'Basanti ' turbans and women yellow 'dupatta' for the ceremony. Basanti (yellow) colour signifies revolution and sacrifice. The colour is identified with Bhagat Singh as he would wear a lot of yellow colour clothes and sing songs with the words basanti. He is strongly associated with the colour yellow. Following his message, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters turned up in ‘basanti’ turbans and dupattas. 

He said, “I appeal to all newly elected MLAs to not get arrogant. We have to respect even those who didn't vote for us. The AAP is fighting for the values of martyrs. We are the government for all. I thank you all and AAP founder Arvind Kejriwal.” Besides newly-elected AAP MLAs, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other senior party leaders were also present at the ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Punjab's CM Bhagwant Mann, after he took the Chief Minister's oath. Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that they will work together for Punjab. According to sources In Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, in Goa Pramod Sawant, in Manipur N. Biren Singh and name of Uttrakhand CM will be officially announced as CMs The swearing / oath taking ceremonies in these states will be held soon.
