BCCI Spends 3.5 Crores on Team India's Flight to West Indies

BCCI is the world's richest cricket board, however, this was seen again after the board spent a whopping 3.5 Crore Rupees on Cricketers' flight.

The Indian cricket board BCCI is the richest cricket board in the world and is even richer than the international cricket council ICC. However, now a source has revealed that BCCI has spent a whopping 3.5 Crore rupees to book a flight for the Indian Cricketers. After India’s perfect tour of England, the Indian cricket team flew to the West Indies for the limited overs series and the BCCI spent around Rs 3.5 crore on their travel.

However, players, who were supposed to travel to the West Indies, took a chartered flight, not a commercial one. As a result, the BCCI spent a big amount on a flight from Manchester to Port of Spain. The reason a chartered flight was booked for the team was not Covid-19. It's difficult to book so many tickets on a commercial flight because the Indian team includes 16 players and members of the support staff, including the head coach Rahul Dravid. There are players' wives who have traveled to the West Indies too. The source further added that it made sense to book a chartered flight instead of a normal commercial plane as it has now become a common practice, especially among the world's top football clubs. Normally, in a commercial flight, this expense would've been around Rs 2 crore. A business class ticket from Manchester to Port of Spain would be around Rs 2 lakh. However, it is difficult to book so many tickets on one flight at a time.
