Bangladeshi Woman Swims to India To Marry Boyfriend

In a shocking incident, A 22-year-old Bangladeshi woman swam across the border to marry her boyfriend from India

You might have heard several love stories which might have crossed all the borders, but have you ever heard about a cross-border love story which actually forced the lover to cross the county’s border?

In a shocking incident, a Bangladeshi woman crossed the wild forests of the Sundarbans, swam for an hour and entered India to meet and marry her boyfriend from India.  The Bangladeshi woman, identified as Krishna Mandal, met Abhik Mandal on Facebook and fell in love. Abhik Mandal is an Indian citizen residing in West Bengal. As Krishna did not have a passport, she chose to cross the border illegally. According to police sources, three days ago, Krishna got married to Abhik at Kalighat Temple in Kolkata. But, she was later arrested on 31st May for illegally entering the country. Sources said that Krishna may be handed over to the Bangladesh High Commission.

Moreover, this is not the first case of a Bangladeshi citizen entering India illegally for a weird cause. Earlier this year, Eman Hossain, a teenager swam across a river and crossed the border into India through a gap in a fence to get his favourite chocolate bar. He was caught by the police, sent to 15 days judicial custody and then sent back to Bangladesh.
