Baba Siddique Murder: Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Claims Responsibility

NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai on 12th October 2024, with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang claiming responsibility.

On the night of 12th October 2024, former Congress MLA and Maharashtra minister, Baba Siddique, was shot dead in Mumbai while the city was busy celebrating Dussehra. Siddique, a prominent leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was leaving his son Zeeshan Siddique’s Bandra office when three gunmen attacked him, firing 6-7 bullets. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital but sadly passed away due to severe injuries around 11:25 pm.

Baba Siddique was well-known as the Muslim face of the NCP and a close friend of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. He was famous for his grand Eid Iftar parties attended by Bollywood stars. In 2013, it was Baba Siddique who helped patch up Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan after a long-standing feud.

The Mumbai Police later confirmed that jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang was involved in the attack, after a video claiming responsibility was briefly posted online. Bishnoi, who is also linked to the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala, is known for extortion and organized crime, primarily in north India.

Two suspects, Gurmail Baljit Singh from Haryana and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh, were arrested the next day. They confessed that they had been paid ?50,000 each to kill Siddique and had been monitoring his movements for two months. A third suspect, Shiv Kumar, is currently on the run.

Siddique’s tragic death comes exactly six months after the firing incident at Salman Khan’s house in April 2024, which was also linked to Bishnoi’s gang.

A state funeral was held for Baba Siddique, with top politicians and Bollywood celebrities attending. The investigation is ongoing, with the Mumbai Crime Branch taking over the case.
