Are Russia & US Helping Pakistan Against India?

India-Russia relations remain strong despite rumours of military support to Pakistan. Russia clarified there is no such deal, and ties with India continue to grow.

India-Russia Ties: Stronger Than Ever Despite Recent Rumors

India has had strong and friendly relations with Russia for many years. Recently, despite warnings from US President Donald Trump about tariffs and requests not to buy Russian oil, India continued to purchase it in large quantities, showing the importance of its ties with Russia.

However, concerns arose when reports claimed that Russia had made a deal to supply Pakistan with advanced RD-93MA engines for its JF-17 Thunder fighter jets, despite India’s objections. Since Pakistan bought JF-17 jets from China, these engines would allow Pakistan to use them, potentially posing a threat to India. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling this a diplomatic failure and questioning why India continues to buy Russian S-400 missile systems and consider Su-57 stealth jets while Russia allegedly helps Pakistan.

Soon after, Russia clarified that there is no such deal with Pakistan, calling the reports illogical. Relations between India and Russia continue to grow stronger. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia will buy more agricultural products and medicines from India and plans to visit India in December 2025 to meet Prime Minister Modi, whom he called his “friend” and “reliable partner.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan is strengthening ties with the US, with Army Chief Asim Munir offering to develop a port in Pasni, Balochistan, for trade and military use. Despite this, Pakistan’s economy faces challenges, as many large companies, including P&G, Microsoft, Uber, Yamaha Motors, TotalEnergies, and Shell, have left between 2022-2025.

India-Russia relations remain strong, while Pakistan navigates economic instability and new international partnerships.
