Anupamaa Actor Rituraj Singh Dies of Cardiac Arrest
Famous Indian TV & Bollywood actor Rituraj Singh passed away of cardiac arrest at the age of 59 on 20th February 2024 after suffering from pancreas-related issues.
Famous Indian TV & Bollywood actor Rituraj Singh passed away on 20th February 2024. He died of cardiac arrest at the age of 59. His colleague and close friend Amit Behl confirmed the sad news. He said that he learnt of the death from actor Pallavi Joshi. He also informed the media that Rituraj was facing pancreas-related issues and was undergoing treatment for the same. Amit said that Rituraj had been hospitalized and was discharged just a few days ago but later passed away at around 12.30 am at his home due to a cardiac arrest. Rituraj started his career as a child theater artist at the age of 12 years old and did theater with him for 12 years. Thereafter he acted in two English films and later did his 1st TV show in 1993. During his time at Barry John’s TAG (Theatre Action Group), he became close friends with Shahrukh Khan well before he even became a successful actor. According to one of his interviews, Rituraj said that Shahrukh would hug him and introduce him to others as his oldest friend. They both used to rehearse, smoke and play football together. They even shared clothes. Rituraj was recently seen in the role of an America based cafe owner named Yashpal in the famous TV serial 'Anupamaa'. Anupamaa played by actress Rupali Ganguly worked at the cafe and was often seen sharing screen with Rituraj. Fans quite liked his work in the show and were impressed with the same. Rituraj enjoyed an illustrious career in both TV and the film industry. He worked in 1993’s popular TV show ‘Banegi Apni Baat' along with R Madhavan, late actor Irrfan and Surekha Sikri & was also seen in TV serials like Adaalat, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Trideviyaan, Diya Aur Baati Hum & many others and OTT shows such as Bandish Bandits, Made in Heaven, and Indian Police Force. He also acted in the movie Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, alongside Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Rituraj’s death has come as a shock to his friends, family members & the TV industry. Tributes have been pouring in on social media. Prominent actors including Rupali Gangully, Navneet Nishan, Aly Goni, Kavita Kaushik and Jaswir Kaur expressed their shock and conveyed their condolences online to Rituraj’s family. Rituraj is survived by his wife and two children. His funeral will take place at 10:30 am at Mumbai’s Oshiwara Hindu Cemetery on 21st February.
