Air Force Plane Drops Fuel Tank Mid Air
The Indian Air Force’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, dropped a fuel tank on a farm near Sulur in Tamil Nadu. Fortunately, no one was injured and the pilot landed safely.
The external fuel tank of one of Indian Air Force’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, dropped onto a farm near Sulur in Tamil Nadu. This is the first time an incident involving this plane has been recorded since it was brought into service in 2001 having flown nearly 4,500 flights. The Plane took off from the Sulur Air Base and one of the fuel tanks fell off. No reason was given as to why this happened but an investigation is underway. The plane landed safely back at the airbase. No injuries or damage to buildings were reported on the ground, but many people heard a crash and rushed to the scene where they found a 3 foot crater and the broken fuel tank.
An Air Force officer said they did not know if there was any fuel in the tank at the time. A similar incident occurred in Haryana when an IAF Jaguar Jet was dropping the practice bombs. A bird hit one of the engines of the plane and the pilot had to do an emergency landing. However before they land they had to empty to fuel tank inorder to land safely. Thankfully the pilot landed safely.
