Actor Vijay Rides Cycle to Vote in Chennai

Actor Vijay today rode a cycle in Chennai to cast his vote in the Tamil Nadu election. Watch our latest video for all the details.

Famous South actor Vijay went to vote yesterday. But he did not go in a fancy car like other actors. Instead Vijay rode cycle to the polling booth. When Vijay was riding his cycle, people around him recognised him and went crazy. Many people began running behind his cycle. Some on two-wheelers even followed him and tried to take pictures of him. The movie star tried to pedal faster but could not lose his chaotic entourage. When Vijay reached the polling booth, the crowd went crazy. There was a huge rush and people began pushing each other to meet Vijay and get his autograph. To control the crowd, the police had to lathi charge people.

Since there was a huge crowd gathered outside the booth it was impossible for Vijay to cycle back home after voting. The actor couldn't even reach the cycle in the crowd. Vijay was seen riding pillion on the bike of one of his employees. The bicycle had to be brought back later by one of his employees.

Soon after the episode, there was speculation on whether Vijay wanted to deliver a message on fuel prices with his bicycle ride. Vijay’s team responded saying: "There is only one reason why Vijay came by cycle to cast his vote. The booth is in the street behind his house. It's a narrow street, and it would be difficult to take the car there. There is no other reason for it."
