Actor, Director Satish Kaushik Passes Away At 66

Actor and filmmaker Satish Kaushik passed away at the age of 66 on 8th March 2023.

Actor and filmmaker Satish Kaushik passed away at the age of 66 on 8th March 2023. 

Kaushik was visiting someone in Gurugram when his health deteriorated and he suffered a heart attack in a car. His body is at the Fortis hospital, Gurugram, and will be brought to Mumbai after postmortem. A day before his death, Satish attended Javed Akhtar’s Holi Party in Mumbai. He had shared photos of the party on his social media handles. His very close friend Anupam Kher confirmed the news of his death. Kher wrote in his tribute, “I know “death is the ultimate truth of this world!” But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend #SatishKaushik while alive. Such a sudden full stop on a friendship of 45 years!! Life will NEVER be the same without you SATISH! Om Shanti!”


Kaushik studied at the National School of Drama (NSD) and Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and started his career in theatre in Delhi  and later moved to Mumbai to try his luck in the film industry. He made his debut as an actor in the Hindi film Masoom in 1983. His most popular role is that of Calender in the Anil Kapoor Sridevi starrer film Mr India.  He went on to work in a number of films such as Ram Lakhan, Deewana Mastana, and many others. He has finished his shoot for Kanagana Ranaut directed film Emergency. That will be Kaushik’s last film. Satish Kaushik was not only an actor but a director, producer, comedian, and screenwriter.  He debuted as a director with Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja and then went on to direct many more films. Film industry was left shocked at this news and a lot of them tweeted their condolences.
