On 18 January 2026, a six-year-old girl from Bhajanpura, Delhi, was brutally gang-raped by three boys aged 10, 13, and 14. The girl lived with her parents and three siblings, and had recently lost her elder brother to illness. The incident occurred around 7:00 pm when the girl was returning home. According to reports, she was either dropped off by her father after buying candy or returning from her aunt’s house.

The boys, who were known to the family and friends of her late brother, lured her with promises of chowmein. They took her to an empty two-storey building, tied her hands, gagged her mouth, and assaulted her. When she returned home, her clothes were stained with blood, and she collapsed due to heavy bleeding. Initially, she told her mother she had fallen, while one of the boys tried to mislead the family with the same story. After persistent questioning, the girl revealed the truth.

She was rushed to Jafrabad police station and then to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital. A case under the POCSO Act was registered, and forensic teams confirmed bloodstains at the crime site. On 19 January, the 10-year-old and 13-year-old boys were presented before the Child Welfare Committee. The 14-year-old fled to Bihar, and his family also went missing, sparking protests and roadblocks demanding his arrest.

The girl’s father, an auto-rickshaw driver, has stopped working to protect his children. The family remains in trauma, while the girl continues to recover at home with ongoing medical care.
