5 Indian Cricketers Placed Under Isolation

On 1st January 2021 Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, and Navdeep Saini were seen eating at a restaurant which is not permitted. The BCCI and CA are investigating the matter.

Australia and India are in the middle of a four-match Test series with both sides currently staying in Melbourne before travelling to Sydney for the third Test from January 7. Biosecurity protocols provided by Cricket Australia, players were told not to have meals at indoor restaurants, not supposed to avail any public transport but allowed a walk around the cities where they are playing.

Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, and Navdeep Saini were purportedly seen eating at an indoor restaurant in Melbourne on 1st January in a video posted on social media. The fan, who was apparently seated close to them, had tweeted about getting a hug from Pant but later retracted the claim. The Cricket Australia said the cricketers had broken the rules and have placed all 5 players under isolation.

The BCCI and CA are investigating the matter and would determine the punishment. BCCI official said that all five would travel to Sydney from Melbourne in isolation and not along with the team.

A fan had posted a picture of the bill which showed that Rohit Sharma has eaten beef. Once the picture went viral people commented that Rohit Sharma talks about protecting animals and here he is eating beef. However there is no proof that the bill is that of Rohit Sharma.
