4 Students, Including Jharkhand Minister’s Daughter, Killed in Jamshedpur Car Accident

Four Class 12 students were killed after their car crashed into a stationary truck on Marine Drive in Jamshedpur, with Jharkhand minister Deepika Pandey Singh’s daughter among the victims.

Four Class 12 students were killed in a road accident in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, early on 24 September 2026.

The accident happened on Marine Drive near the Domuhani area at around 3:30 am. The four victims were Trisha Singh, 18, Sarthak Agarwal, 18, Naman Gupta, 17, and Vanshika Khandelwal, 17. All four were students of Carmel Junior College in Jamshedpur.

Trisha Singh was the younger daughter of Jharkhand Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh. The four students had been at Sarthak Agarwal’s flat for group studies. They left around 2 am and travelled towards Marine Drive.

Meanwhile, a truck had broken down on Marine Drive and was parked near the divider on the four-lane road while waiting for repairs.

At around 3:30 am, the car carrying the four students crashed into the back of the stationary truck. The impact was so strong that the car was badly damaged and became stuck under the truck. People nearby heard the sound of the crash and rushed to the spot. However, all four people inside the car had died from their injuries.

Police and rescue teams reached the spot and worked to remove the bodies from the badly damaged car. The bodies were taken to MGM Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. Rescue workers had to use equipment, including gas cutters, to free the victims from the vehicle.

Photographs from the accident site showed that there were no proper reflector or warning signs near the parked truck. The truck was also parked on the right side of the road. Police seized both the car and the truck and started an investigation.

Police have not yet confirmed who was driving the car when the accident happened.

After the postmortem, the bodies were handed over to their families. Trisha’s body was taken to Ranchi.

Minister Deepika Pandey Singh travelled towards Jamshedpur after learning about her daughter’s death. Reports said she was travelling from Deoghar by chartered plane, but bad weather forced the aircraft to land in Ranchi instead. Trisha’s last rites were later planned in Ranchi.

Several political leaders visited the hospital and offered condolences to the families.

Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar also expressed his grief over Trisha’s death and offered his condolences to her family. Chief Minister Hemant Soren also expressed his condolences to Deepika Pandey Singh and the families of the other three students.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.
