20-Year-Old Stabbed 20 Times, Throat Slit in Dharavi

In a brutal daylight attack in Dharavi, Ashiq Khan murdered 20-year-old Ashwin Nadar by stabbing him over 20 times following a personal dispute and a prior argument.

On March 16, 2026, a 20-year-old man, Ashwin Nadar, was brutally murdered in Mumbai's Dharavi by an acquaintance, Ashiq Khan. The attack, which occurred in broad daylight near a public toilet in Gopinath Colony, has shocked the local community due to its extreme violence.

Following a minor dispute over a cigarette the previous day, the two men crossed paths again around 5:30 PM. The confrontation escalated rapidly:

Khan reportedly stabbed Nadar over 20 times across his chest, stomach, and limbs before slitting his throat.

Witnesses state Khan brandished his knife at onlookers, shouting threats to kill anyone who intervened.

Nadar’s family arrived to find him in a pool of blood with Khan still holding the weapon. Police reached the scene quickly and took Khan into custody. Nadar succumbed to his injuries at Sion Hospital.

Reports suggest the conflict stemmed from Nadar’s refusal to continue a personal relationship with Khan. There are also indications of prior drug use involving both parties. While CCTV footage and witnesses describe a one-sided, aggressive attack, Khan filed a counter-FIR on March 17, claiming he acted in self-defense after being threatened.

Ashiq Khan is currently in police custody facing murder charges. Authorities are analyzing the CCTV footage and witness statements to finalize the timeline of the brutal killing.
