19 Died After a Passenger Plane Crashes in Lake Victoria

At least 19 lives were lost after a small passenger plane crashed into Lake Victoria as it was approaching an airport in Tanzania

A Passenger plane making a crash landing in water is one of the common scenes of various thriller films. However, witnessing anything in reality is no less than a nightmare. Notably, this has happened in Tanzania, Africa, for real. A small passenger plane belonging to Precision Air, crashed into Lake Victoria, which is Africa's largest lake by area, as it was approaching Bukoba Airport in Tanzania on 6th November 2022 at around 8:53 AM. Precision Air is a publicly listed company and is Tanzania's largest private carrier. Precision Air is partly owned by Kenya Airways and was founded in 1993. It operates domestic flights as well as private charters to popular tourist destinations. According to the company, the aircraft had 39 passengers -- including an infant -- and four crew members on board.Out of which 19  people died while 24 people survived the accident. The airline said it had dispatched rescuers and investigators to the scene and expressed its "deepest sympathies" over the accident. Video footage broadcast on local media showed the plane largely submerged as rescuers, including fishermen, went into the water to bring people to safety.

Emergency workers attempted to lift the aircraft out of the water using ropes, assisted by cranes. 

President Samia Suluhu Hassan expressed her condolences to those affected by the accident, saying: "We pray to god to help us."The disaster ranks among the deadliest plane crashes in Tanzania's history. The accident comes five years after 11 people died when a plane belonging to the safari company Coastal Aviation crashed in northern Tanzania. What do you think about this deadly accident?
