12,000 Fans Show up for CSK Practice Match

IPL fever grips Chennai as 12,000 fans attend the Chennai Super Kings intrasquad match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. After being out of action for two seasons and not playing their home games in Chen

Although IPL Matches begin on 23 March 2019, fans in Chennai can hardly contain their excitement for their favorite IPL team the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On 17 March 2019, the CSK played an intrasquad training game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The entire stadium was packed as more than 12,000 people showed up for the match. MS Dhoni is the Captain of the CSK team. When Suresh Raina entered the stadium, he was welcomed by thousands of fans with thunderous applause. Raina is also the highest run-scorer in IPL history with as many as 4985 runs.

Since the owners were found guilty of betting, CSK were banned from playing the IPL in 2016 and 2017. Many fans were extremely heartbroken.Last year the CSK were unable to play any of the IPL matches in chennai due to political protest. The CSK had to shift all their home games to Pune. This is did not stop the fans as CSK arranged special trains for fans to travel to Pune. The people in Chennai are extremely excited for the upcoming IPL season since the CSK will play all their home games in Chennai.

This year CSK has retained most of its original players. They only acquired to new players Mohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad during the IPL auction. CSK is most successful team in IPL history. They have won the IPL in 2010, 2011 and 2018. The have also won the Champions League Twenty20 in 2010 and 2014. They are the only team to make it to the Final Four in every season.
