10,000 Cr Project to Put 3 Indians in Space by 2022

Gaganyaan project aims to send 3 Indians to space by the year 2022.

The government has approved the Rs.10,000 Cr Gaganyaan project. This projects aims at sending 3 Indians to space for at least 7 days. After Russia, America and China, India will become the fourth country to send humans in space, if this project is successful.

PM Narendra Modi has set a deadline for the year 2022 for this project. Isro Chairman K Sivan said that, Isro is ready to take this challenge and will work very hard to meet Modi’s deadline. The Chairman said that before the final mission, Isro will launch 2 trial rockets by the year 2021.

He also said that the Indian Air Force [IAF] and ISRO, will select the astronauts together for this mission. Once the candidates are selected they will train in Bangalore for 2-3 years. Isro will also consult Rakesh Sharma for this project. He was the first Indian to go to space in 1984.

Recently, Sivan along with Jitendra Singh who is the Minister of State for atomic energy and space, gave a presentation for the Gaganyaan project In Delhi.
