Learn from Your Mistakes

A short story about America’s greatest inventor and his never say die attitude.

Right now in the year 2020, technology has advanced so much. Our lives are so comfortable. But hundreds of years back life was not easy. But one scientist’s inventions changed the world. His name was Thomas Edison. He was born in the USA and was known as America’s greatest inventor. Edison invented many things such as the gramophone, motion picture camera and his most important invention was the electric light bulb.

Edison used two thousand different materials for the filament to make the light bulb.None of these 2000 materials were useful for the bulb and it did not work satisfactorily. Edison’s assistant said, “All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing. I am not sure if we can use

electricity properly to make the bulb.” Edison replied very confidently, “I know we have failed many times. But We have also learned a lot. We learnt that there are 2000 materials which cannot be used to make a good light bulb. We will try with other materials.” Eventually Edison succeeded and created the light bulb.

Moral: We should learn from our mistakes. Never give up. Everytime you fail, try to learn from it. When you learn from your mistakes you will not repeat them and it will help you succeed.
