Baking soda and vinegar are both brilliant natural cleaning agents. They are useful individually as well as together. There are many different ways in which they can be used for cleaning. I will tell you some ways of using them.

1. Sprinkle baking soda over clothes before putting them in the washing machine. It will brighten them. Then use some vinegar in the rinse cycle to remove any nasty odours and soften the fabric. This eliminates the need to use a fabric conditioner. But remember to only use about 120ml of vinegar in the machine and check the manual before doing this.

2. Use some white vinegar and baking soda in the sink. Pour the baking soda in first and then the vinegar. This will create an immediate reaction and break down grease, grim and dirt and help with blockages and smells.

3. Sprinkling baking soda on mattresses, shoes and rugs, leaving it overnight, and then vaccum it up to get rid of dirt, dust and bad smells.

4. Sprinkle some baking soda in stained Tupperware with little water and leave it overnight. Then rinse it in the morning. This will get rid of the stains.

5. Mix baking soda with water to make a paste and spread it on the walls and door of the oven and leave it overnight. Wipe it off with a damp cloth to reveal clean glass.

6. Leave some baking soda in an open container in the fridge to absorb bad smells, or pour some in an empty bin to absorb the foul odour.

7. Soak a rag in white vinegar and wrap and secure it around the end of a tap to get rid of lime scale.

8. Put white vinegar in a spray bottle and sprinkle it on mouldy fabric to kill it. It will remove the mould from the clothes.

9. When washing towels to keep them fluffy, use white vinegar in the washing machine on a 40C wash.

10. Fill a kettle with equal parts white vinegar and water, boil it, and leave it for an hour. This will get rid of limescale
