West Bengal Woman Serves Leftover Food From Wedding

Dressed in all finery, the woman was seen sitting on a station platform in West Bengal with metal buckets and big containers filled with food from the reception feast.

The wedding season is here. Social media feeds are filled with couple shoots and special occasion. The best part about any Indian wedding is the scrumptious food that is served. Guests enjoy eating at the Chaat Counter, dessert, Chinese food, Italian food, etc. However, one thing always goes unnoticed. People forget that food for such buffet events is always prepared in bulk and after weddings, a lot of the food goes to waste. When this happens, the food is thrown away. This is very bad. Almost every day there are weddings in  India and a lot of food is thrown away when there are so many poor people, who are starving every day. Dressed in all finery a woman named Nilanjan Mondal was seen sitting on a station platform in West Bengal at 1:00 am with metal buckets and big containers filled with food. She was seen happily distributing food on paper plates to the needy at the station. A wedding photographer, took her picture and it went viral on social media. Mondal said it was her brother’s wedding reception that day and a huge amount of food was leftover. So she took it upon herself to deliver it to those in need. From elderly women to little children, rickshaw wallas and more, all were seen gathering near her to get a serving of the sumptuous meal. Many locals who came across her images said this is not the first time she is feeding the poor. She is known for feeding the needy in her locality.

She received a lot of praise for her actions. Many said that people must learn and be inspired by her to do the same. People can contact NGOs in their areas or simply try to find someone in need such as our watchmen, house helps, etc.  We should try to avoid wastage of any kind. Whether it is food, clothes, household things, etc.A small act of kindness will make others happy and also help to save the environment. This will prevent the wastage of food and poor people can get food to eat.
