Novak Djokovic Disqualified From US Open

World number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic has been disqualified from the US Open for misdemeanor on the tennis court.

On Sunday 6th September, world number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic was playing a tennis match against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta at the US Open. Djokovic was getting frustrated after squandering three points when Carreno Busta served. Djokoic out of frustration swatted a ball hard to the back of the court, accidently hitting a female line judge in her throat.The line judge was screaming in pain and she fell to the ground. A horrified Djokovic ran over to her and apologized. Djokovic heard saying that he had not intended to hit the official.Some people also overheard him saying that she does not have to go to the hospital for this.  

According to the rules of Tennis, Players shall not physically abuse any official, opponent, spectator or other person within the area of the tournament site. Djokovic pleaded with the referee for 12 minutes but the referee announced that Pablo Carreno Busta had won the match and Djokovic would be disqualified from the US Open for his misbehaviour. Djokovic walked over to shake hands with a stunned Carreno Busta. He later left the grounds without attending a press conference. Djokovic posted an apology on Instagram. He wrote, “This whole situation has left me really sad and empty. I‘m extremely sorry to have caused her such stress. So unintended. So wrong. I need to learn how to handle my irritation and disappointments.
