Instagram to Remove ‘Likes’ From App

Instagram has decided to stop displaying the number of Likes on instagram in the USA.

Instagram users in the USA are in a shock, because Instagram will remove the ‘Like’ option from the App. This means that people will be able to like the pictures and they can see their own Likes but other people will not be able to see the likes their picture has received. Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri announced this on 8th November 2019 and that the aim is to remove pressurise on Instagram for young people.

He said that these days the youth is under a lot of pressure on social media. On Instagram they are very worried about the number of likes and their followers. Adam said that he wants to remove competition on Instagram so that people enjoy and make friends instead of worrying about likes and followers. He said many trials were held in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Ireland, Italy and Brazil.

This system will slowly be applied in the UK as well. Users are not at all happy with Instagram. One person said that removing Likes on Instagram is like McDonalds not selling burgers. People said Instagram is useless without Likes. However many are happy with Adam’s decision and say that now people can enjoy and connect with people instead of judging and worrying about their likes.
