Indian Government Announced ‘Unlock1.0’ Guidelines

After 70 days of strict lockdown restrictions, the Central Government has relaxed rules in the country. Except in containment zones. In containment zones, the lockdown has been extended up to 30th June. Lockdown rules will still be applicable in containment zones. Several states across the countries have decided to extend the lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19. The central government has announced “Unlock 1", these are relaxation of rules and will happen in 3 phases. Except in containment zones. 

  1. From now the country is divided into two zones. Containment zones and non-containment zones. 

  2. Private offices can open in non-containment zones. 

  3. Shops selling non-essential items will be allowed to open in non-containment zones. 

  4.  All religious places will be allowed to open from 8 June. 

  5. Shopping malls can be open from 8 June. The Health Ministry will issue separate rules for this. 

  6. Restaurants can be open from 8 June. The Health Ministry will issue separate rules for this. 

  7. You can go for a walk/run/cycle in your area but not in groups. This will not be allowed between 9:00 pm to 5:00 am in any zone. 

  8.  In all zones, persons above the age of 65, people with comorbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 have to stay at home. This is a must for all zones. 

  9. House help and drivers are allowed to resume work in non-containment zones. However, the resident welfare association (RWA) needs to allow it. 

  10.  Most states have started sales of alcohol in non-containment zones. 

  11. Inter-state train services have already started. Travel by metro is not allowed in all zones. 

  12. Domestic air travel has been started since 25th May. 

  13. In non-containment zones, if the RWA allows it, then AC serviceman, carpenter, plumber, etc. can visit the houses for work. 

  14.  Delivery of non-essential items through e-commerce websites have already been allowed. 

  15. Salons have been allowed to open but with social distancing rules. 

  16. Cinema halls, theatres, parks, auditoriums, etc. will remain shut. 

  17. You are allowed to take a car/bike out if you are in a non-containment zone. 

  18. Decisions about schools, colleges and universities will be taken in July. 

  19. Marriage ceremonies are allowed but guests can’t be more than 50. 

  20.  Funeral ceremonies are allowed but more than 20 people are allowed.
