Former President Trump Acquitted by US Senate

Former US President Donald Trump was acquitted Saturday on charges of inciting an insurrection at the US Capitol.

On 6 January, Former President Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the US Capitol which led to a lot of violence. 5 people were dead because of this. The ‘Impeachment Process’ is where the House of Representatives vote to decide whether the President is guilty of breaking rules. If majority votes are against the President a trial is held before the United States Senate who will decide whether to remove him or not. The members of the House of Representatives voted 232-197 and held Former President Donald Trump responsible for inciting violence at the capitol. 5 days back the trial started in the United States Senate. The Democratic leaders showed a video of Trump and said that he provoked his supporters to enter the Capitol Building because he did not want to let go of his Presidency. However, the Republicans supported Trump. 

When a vote was conducted to decide whether Trump was guilty or not, 57 in Trump’s support and 43 voted against him. Of the 43 who voted against Trump, 7 were Republicans from his own party. Hence, it was declared that Trump was not guilty of the charges. Since he left the White House on January 20, Trump, who has been secluded in Florida at his luxurious resort Mar-a-Lago. On hearing news he said he was very happy with the decision. Trump also hinted that he may return to politics and this was just the beginning.
