A surfer Maya Gabeira from Brazil has achieved the unthinkable. Everyone on the internet is stunned by her achievement! Earlier in 2018 she had made a world record of surfing a wave which was 68 feet high. Now she broke her own record by surfing a wave which was 73.5 feet high in February. Even though she broke the record in february, the news is going viral now. The Guinness World Record posted about this on their Twitter page. It showed clips of her surfing the gigantic wave in Portugal’s Nazare.

The video is extremely thrilling and people on the internet were very excited to see it because it is not easy to ride such a high wave. But when she rode the wave she made it look so easy. Gabeira also received the WSL (World Surfing League)’s 2020 Women’s XXL Biggest Wave Award. This achievement is very special because in the men’s category, surfer Kai Lenny had received the award for riding a 70-foot wave. In comparison, Maya Gabeira surfed a much higher wave. This is a very big inspiration to women around the world.

In a press statement she said, “The wave was pretty special although it was terrifying as well.”

She said it was her dream to achieve this milestone. She added, It was crazy to get the second one. I cannot wrap my head around it.”This achievement broke a world record and also broke a lot of stereotypes about women in sports.
