Sex Racket Busted in Delhi's Spa

Delhi Commision of Women (DCW) along with the police raided and shut down a spa in North Delhi’s Rohini Center Mall that was operating a prostitution racket.

On Monday May 20th the Delhi Commision of Women (DCW) claimed to have raided and shut down a spa in North Delhi’s Rohini Center Mall that was operating a prostitution racket. The DCW have said that on 18th May they received a call on there 181 helpline number from a journalist who discovered the spa. He conducted a sting operation where he recorded calls with the workers and management of the spa.

After receiving the tip the DCW  conducted a raid with the police and found 11 girls inside the spa with "some objectionable things". DCW Chief Swati Maliwal said prostitution is taking place rampantly in Delhi with these spas becoming a safe haven for these illegal activites.

The girls were taken to the Prashant Vihar Police station where their statements and FIR was registered. However no arrests were made. Ms Maliwal said she doesn't know why the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the local police are not taking strict actions against these spas that are operating all over Delhi. The city needs to regulate the spas to keep human-trafficking away from.

In April this year, the DCW had uncovered another sex racket that was being operating from a home in North Delhi’s Aman Vihar, near Rohini. The police arrested the owner and three women from the house. During the same month the police also arrested two other women for running another spa in DLF Phase 1.
