Passengers of Duronto Train Looted

Passengers of Duronto train looted by masked robbers.

On thursday morning, group of robbers stopped the Jammu Duronto train and robbed the passengers. This took place at Samaipur Badli. They stopped the train by using a coin to turn the railway signal red. The Loco Pilot of the train, said that, at 430am he saw signal turn red so he stopped the train. The robbers were hiding in the JJ Colony near the railway tracks. The robbers entered the 3-tier Ac coach number B3.

Basant Bhandari, was a passenger who was travelling to Delhi.He said that the robbers pressed a knife to his throat, which woke him up. There were a group of people standing around him with their faces covered.

The robbers asked for him to hand over his belongings. Bhandari agreed and handed over Rs 6,000 cash, a gold chain, mobile phone, sunglasses and ATM cards.They held knifes against the passengers throats and robbed all of them. Passengers says this went for 15-20 mins.  

A passenger tweeted that, many of the passengers tried to look for the RPF constable and the Travelling Ticket Examiner [TTE] but they could not find one. They could not shout for help as the windows were sealed. The TTE came only after the robbers left. The TTE alerted the control room.

The police have filed two FIRs against the robbers. They are looking for the passengers who were robbed.The police are investigating the coach attendants and the pantry staff as well. Passengers told the police that, the robbers could have asked the coach staff and attendants to open the locked doors at night.
